Friends are the Spice of Life!

This past weekend, we were fortunate enough to have some of our closest friends venture down to the Baltimore/DC area.  Good times had by all!
The Gals (minus Jaime)
The Guys Profiles.

The tough decisions.

Getting warmer...
The delicious food!  Fried green tomato and egg sandwich. Can you say "yum!?"

Having our friends here made us very happy!
Cheers!

It's opening day for the pool, so we mixed up some delicious Mojitos and headed downstairs to enjoy the sun!

It's Monday...

...do you need a hug?
How have we missed this bush-tree?!  We walk past it almost everyday!

p.s. would you call that a bush or a tree?

Wowzas, what a weekend!

Every once and a while, a weekend comes along that is completely fulfilling.  Here's a recap of ours:

Friday night, we watched Project Bandaloop, an incredibly unique contemporary dance troup, perform off the side of the Old Post Office.  It was an UNBELIEVABLE sight to see.  We mistakenly left Wes' camera at home, so these were the best shots we could get with our phones (click to enlarge).  Video coming soon!

On Saturday, we headed to RFK Stadium to enjoy a day of music at the DC 101's Chili Cook-off Music Festival.  We saw Cake and Incubus, among a few other enjoyable bands!  All proceeds went to the Kidney Foundation, which was hysterical.  A bunch of rock music fans drinking way too much beer, all in support of kidneys.  :)  Anyway, it was a beautiful day...

Cake!  The lead singer was losing his voice - badly - but he made it through.
Oh, Brandon Boyd, you're such a rockstar.  Seriously though, Incubus may be one of the most talented bands out there - they sound EXACTLY like their record!
The best part of the entire day (in Jaime's opinion), was taking the Capital Bikeshare, bikes home! We actually rode them from RFK Stadium to Georgetown.  There's a Bikeshare stop right next to our parking lot, but riding a bike through the heart of Georgetown is a death wish.  So we returned the bikes once we got to Georgetown and stopped for a drink and a few appetizers at an AMAZING hodge-podge of a restaurant, called Mie N Yu.  We decided that we are taking anyone and everyone who comes to visit us, to this place...sorry, no pics...you'll just have to come see us!

Todaaaaaay, we worked on wedding projects over coffee and eggs...
...and then headed to Roosevelt Island...finally!

How cool is this tree?!
We just had to participate.

We were just so excited to finally make it to the island!  Check out our moves.

p.s. Happy Mother's Day to, two of the most fabulous women we know.  Seriously, we hit the jackpot with these two!  Love you both!

oh, and check out Jaime's Shutterfly page for additional photos...if you're interested.  :)

Wine Bar Sighting!

Not sure how we missed this tasty delight, nestled in our neighborhood?! Screwtop wine bar & cheese shop may just be our new favorite place.

Mac 'n Cheese Trio (Chipotle Goat, Tangy Blue, and Truffle)!

Fantastic wine selection!

The best kind of artwork...

Take a look at what appeared on my reading table this afternoon.  Check out my heels!
It reads:  Getting married.  Mrs. Limoli + Mr. Wes!

What a LOVEly day to be together!

While we were home for Easter, we tackled many, many wedding list items.  One of the more exciting, being our engagement photo shoot!  The photographer we've decided to go with - Chelse from EIEIO Photography (and a friend of one of our most loyal blog readers - Joanne), encourages her clients to do engagement shots so that she can get to know the couple/their style before the big day.  Here's a little peek at some of our favorites!

p.s. all photos were taken at Mendon Ponds Park on a brisk Friday morning. :)

A Wild Weekend

Wes had a wonderful picnic lunch planned for my birthday on Saturday.  He was planning to take me to Roosevelt Island, which we've been talking about visiting since we moved in - it's practically in our backyard.  Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate with us, so we postponed our plans for Sunday, which was a beautiful day!

We decided to save the island for next weekend, since it's supposed to be a bit warmer and instead took our picnic to the zoo.  Chef Wes made delicious cheese steaks and picked up one of our favorite bottles of vino.  Off we went to dine with animals!

Oh, this is the yummy Mac n Cheese Wes made on Friday night.  It's inspired by the dish we always get at a neighborhood restaurant, with artichokes inside and cheese-its on top!  Wes added tomato, because, well, nothing beats fresh tomato!
Cheese Steaks!
DC Tudors.
Look! We found a house that matched my nails!
Ch-ch-ch-cheetah!
Just hanging out.
King of the man-made mountain.  :/
Spotted stingray
Pretty fish.
Jellyfish-ish fish.
He was just hanging out on this tree, along a path we walked to exit one of the exhibits.  Totally cool.
It was a treacherous adventure...but rest assured; we made it home safely - thanks to Wes, our fearless tour guide.
