Let's Go Buffalo!

Sabres, that is.

Wes found reasonably priced Sabres/Caps tix for yesterday's game. So off we went to cheer on the opposing team.

There were actually a ton of Sabres fans at the game. However, the woman that sat next to me was a Caps fan. Her rebuttal to our "let's go Buffalo" chant was a very intelligent, "Buffalo sucks." Oh and, "if Buffalo's so great, why did you move here?" I was able to laugh her off until the end of the game when she gave us the ever-popular ghetto peace sign, goodbye. I then felt a strong desire to punch her in her bandwagon jumping face.

Annnnnnyway, Buffalo unfortunately lost a good game, but we had fun nonetheless!

The Final Birthday Chapter

Yesterday marked 1 official year since our engagement!  It's amazing what can happen in a year, huh?  We went over to The Kennedy Center to do some reminiscing.
I still get choked up thinking about that night and how magical it was.
This time we went up to the rooftop terrace, which has a BEAUTIFUL 360 view of the city!  Seriously, if you visit DC, make a point to go up there.  You won't be disappointed.
We then walked over the the Mall to take a look at the Inauguration preparations...
Another fun and exciting day in DC!  Stay tuned for an Inauguration Day post!

Wes' Birthday - Part III

We continued the celebrating through Saturday by having dinner at Lyon Hall, which is where we went with our families the night of the engagement.  We even sat upstairs in the same room as that night!

2 thumbs up for the oysters!
We did some bar hopping after dinner and ended up at the local Irish Pub where Wes got to play the Djembe with the band!

Wes' Birthday - Part II

On Friday night, we laced up our skates and hit the ice, at the new Washington Harbour Ice Rink, in Georgetown.
Who can resist a man in hockey skates??
Not I :)
Sorry for the blur - the camera on my phone has been temperamental.
This zamboni driver was INSANE.  He was fishtailing all over the ice.  We actually moved from sitting next to the glass for fear of him crashing into us.
The best part of all, is that we could see The Kennedy Center right from the ice!  Talk about timing...it just happened to be 1 year from this magical night.
All in all - a fun day #2 of Wes' birthday celebration!

So You Say It's Your...

BIRTHDAY!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HANDSOME HUSBAND!
We began by celebrating on Thursday - his actual birthday...

They're missing their party hats - but what is a "sophisticated taco night" without festive Corona's??
We added arugula, goat cheese and homemade pico de gallo to our steak tacos. Yum!

Stay tuned for part II of Wes' birthday celebration...

A Fall-ish Weekend?

Oops - never published this post last Sunday.  Better late, than never:

It's January 13th, however this weekend felt more like a crisp autumn day. No complaints here! We took advantage of the rising temperature.

Although we stayed in Friday evening (I have become OBSESSED with the HBO series, Girls and couldn't stop watching the 1st season - *thanks for your patience, Wes*), we were out and about in our lovely neighborhood yesterday and today. Check out our weekend happenings:
Upper Left:  Two random trees that haven't yet lost their leaves - super odd because everything surrounding has.
Upper Middle:  We stopped for a tasty pizza lunch, in between running errands on Saturday.
Upper Right:  "MMMM BEER" is what that license plate reads. :)
Bottom:  We went out for a long walk on the bike path Sunday afternoon.

Wedding Moment #5

Our "Love Letters."

We originally intended to write our own vows.  However, after sitting down to do so, we felt overwhelmed by the task.  After a conversation with Pastor Jack about our ceremony options, he recommended writing letters to one another.  We LOVED the idea!

Reading them to each other was one of our favorite moments of the ceremony.  In fact, we re-read them the morning after, partly to be romantic, but mostly because I couldn't really make out what Wes was saying during the ceremony and needed some clarification.  Juuuuuuust kidding.  :)  His passionate ways are what hooked me from the beginning....

Our Life of Pi

Went to one of our new favorite DC restaurants for lunch today. It's a deep dish pizza joint named Pi Pizzeria and its deelicious! A personal favorite is their garlic bread appetizer that comes with a humungous (I've never attempted to spell that word until now) garlic clove to spread as you like, or just eat with your fork, as we've been known to do. Is there anything better than roasted garlic cloves? I mean, seriously.
Notice the delicious garlic.

HAPPY Birthday to...

...a one of a kind friend!

Happy, HAPPY birthday, Joanne!

Wedding Moment #4

We absolutely LOVED picking out gifts for our awesome wedding "wolf pack." It was fun to find things that reflected their personalities.

And of course, the best part of all was to watch everyone open their surprise:
