We love our STEAMER.

Yes we do.  In fact, we're going to go ahead and say that it is proving to be one of our most used registry items!  *Thanks Grandma*

It's a tiny, spaceship-like contraption that works wonders on fresh veggies!  Check.it.out.
Ready for takeoff.

Can you see that steam??
Yum. Yum.

Pretty Surprises!

Look what pretty little surprise was delivered to my classroom this morning! Tulips from my thoughtful husband make the stresses of teaching fade right away. :)

A Lovely Spring Visit!

This past week, we were lucky enough to have my mom come visit!  Yet another wonderful visit that we didn't want to end.  Here are some photos from our adventures...
One of my favorite parts of my mom coming to visit, is that she spends 3 days with my class!  It's something that she used to do every once and a while, when I worked for West Irondequoit, so it's pretty awesome that we're continuing the tradition down here in VA.  Plus, the kids LOVE it!
p.s. trying to get 20 children, on a Friday, to face forward and smile is quite the challenge, as you can see.
On Thursday evening, we stopped at Wegmans (love) and picked up all the necessary ingredients to make my moms delicious sauce!
Proof.
Every evening at 6pm, The Kennedy Center has a free show!  We have been saying, for a very long time now, that we'd like to check one out.  So, on Friday night we made our way over to the lovely venue to listen to the impressive music of The Mike Dillon Band!
p.s. The Millennium stage, which is where the free shows are held, is located right outside of the Eisenhower Theater - where we got ENGAGED!
Speaking of Engagements...guess what we witnessed after the show!?  That's right, another couple got engaged, this time in the foyer of the Opera House!  The guy hired (we actually think he may be a music teacher and work with the kids - the way he was taking to them led us to assume so) an acapella group to sing to them during and after it happened.  It definitely brought back happy memories - it's safe to say tears were welling up in my eyes.
*sigh*
The next morning we woke up early to get tickets to Fords Theater.  FYI - if you're ever looking to visit the theater in the Spring, get your tickets early!  Between the Cherry Blossom crowds and overwhelming amount of school trips, the tickets are a hot commodity!
Isn't this a great photo?!
We made it!
Such a great shot of the Presidential box where Lincoln was assassinated, compliments of photographer, Wesley D. Juliano. ;)
We were able to catch the show, One Destiny, which recounts the events leading up to the assassination from the perspective of 2 men who were at the theater that very day - Harry Ford (theater owner) and Harry Hawk (actor in the show that was playing that night).
Where else would we go while in that neighborhood, but District of Pi??  Mmmmm, mmmmm, good!

All-in-all, it was another wonderful visit!  Can't wait to be together again in just a few weeks!!

Has Spring Actually Sprung?

The weather is finally starting to feel like Spring, so we couldn't resist eating outside on Friday evening.
The word on the street is that the Cherry Blossoms are out. We're going to take a bike ride down to confirm! Hopefully, we'll have photos for your viewing pleasure! Stay tuned...

A BEAUTIFUL weekend, it was...

As I mentioned in the last post, we had the pleasure of hosting my IN-LAWS (wow, that's the first time I've written that!) last weekend.  We had such a nice time together.  Take a glimpse into our happenings...
On Saturday we went down to the Tidal Basin, hoping that the sun would force those stubborn Cherry Blossoms out!  No such luck, but we had fun taking in the beautiful surroundings, anyway!
Check out all of the kites!  As part of the Cherry Blossom festivities, there has been a Blossom Kite Festival for the past 3 years.  It was an absolutely perfect day for kite flying!
After some liquid rejuvenation, we were off to see a few more sights...

We tried to see the Constitution, but there was a very long line that none of us were in the mood to endure, so we just hung out on lampposts that matched our pants instead.
Then it was DEEP-DISH pizza and beer time!
I believe his thought bubble would read:  "yum, yum, yum, this is my heaven..."
Oh, you little devilish beer drinker, you!
I love this photo!  We took them to the top of the Kennedy Center - one of our favorite spots.
On Easter morning we enjoyed a delicious brunch at Lincoln restaurant in DC.
Satisfied customers!  Those are pennies glued to the wall behind us.  There are over 800,000 along the floor of the restaurant!
All-in-all we had a fantastic weekend together and as usual, it went too fast!  Can't wait until we're all together, again.  Love you guys! xoooo
