Food Bribery.

If you come visit us, we'll make you some of our new favorite cookies!
Chocolate chip oatmeal.
Wes has been eating them for breakfast, justifying it with the oatmeal.
Deliciousness.

Canvases, Cocktails and Creativity, OH MY!

Wes surprised me with a creative night out in DC, at ArtJamz!  With paintbrushes in one hand and tasty brews in the other, we set out on a night of creative exploration (my favorite kind of exploring!)...

A little liquid inspiration, and then...
...we were ready to approach our blank canvases.
To work we went...
Time to speed up the drying process aaaaaaand...
TA-DA!
We're working on titles for our pieces.  I have mine narrowed down to the following:
  • Route 66
  • Hope after 66
  • 66 gone splat

Crock Pots, Carpet Picnics and Quarterbacks, oh my!

Weekend Recap:
  1. I can't remember what we did on Friday night.  :/
  2. Saturday we went to see Zero Dark Thirty.  Pretty good flick, however, what was more impressive, were the Lazy-boy recliners that filled the ENTIRE theater (see below).  Is this happening at home??  I'm not sure they're necessary, but they were seriously luxurious, nonetheless!
  3. Sunday morning - our vacuum finally bit the dust.  Any suggestions on brands/models??
  4. Sunday afternoon - we put our shnazzy crock pot to use for the 1st time to make chicken wing dip!  We're now taking crock pot recipe suggestions!
  5. Sunday evening, we kicked off the Superbowl with a cozy carpet picnic (see below)!

$10.75 tickets prices put to good use?

Wes is clearly ready for some football!

A Red, White and Blue kind of day.

Sorry for the delay, but here are some shots from Inauguration Day 2013.  It was a brisk, very crowded winter day, but I couldn't resist experiencing the moment just this once!
I heard somewhere that in order to wash his jeans, Anderson Cooper just showers in them.
(Things that make you go, hmmmmm)

Anyway, back to the Inauguration...

Mr. P. & Mr. V.P.
There were monitors setup all along the mall.  Thank goodness, because apparently you have to be a "very important pushy person," to get anywhere close to the Capital.
Lots of pageantry.
OMG - are those BANGS I see?!  Two words: Who. Cares.
Now here we have something to really care about. :)
*Shout out to Rob*

Let's Go Buffalo!

Sabres, that is.

Wes found reasonably priced Sabres/Caps tix for yesterday's game. So off we went to cheer on the opposing team.

There were actually a ton of Sabres fans at the game. However, the woman that sat next to me was a Caps fan. Her rebuttal to our "let's go Buffalo" chant was a very intelligent, "Buffalo sucks." Oh and, "if Buffalo's so great, why did you move here?" I was able to laugh her off until the end of the game when she gave us the ever-popular ghetto peace sign, goodbye. I then felt a strong desire to punch her in her bandwagon jumping face.

Annnnnnyway, Buffalo unfortunately lost a good game, but we had fun nonetheless!

The Final Birthday Chapter

Yesterday marked 1 official year since our engagement!  It's amazing what can happen in a year, huh?  We went over to The Kennedy Center to do some reminiscing.
I still get choked up thinking about that night and how magical it was.
This time we went up to the rooftop terrace, which has a BEAUTIFUL 360 view of the city!  Seriously, if you visit DC, make a point to go up there.  You won't be disappointed.
We then walked over the the Mall to take a look at the Inauguration preparations...
Another fun and exciting day in DC!  Stay tuned for an Inauguration Day post!

Wes' Birthday - Part III

We continued the celebrating through Saturday by having dinner at Lyon Hall, which is where we went with our families the night of the engagement.  We even sat upstairs in the same room as that night!

2 thumbs up for the oysters!
We did some bar hopping after dinner and ended up at the local Irish Pub where Wes got to play the Djembe with the band!
