Ah, how good it feels! The hand of an old friend.

While Wes and I work on making new friends, we were lucky enough to have some of the best "old" ones come to visit a couple of weekends ago!  Check out some shots from a "weekend dedicated to our good friend Joanne," to celebrate her upcoming nuptials!

After a few bottles of wine, we decided that it would be a good idea to pose with household items.  I'm not sure what I'm holding in this shot, but I know that in the next one I thought it would be more powerful if I picked up the giant framed poster behind me.  Meg and Joanne, what did you guys hold in the next one?  Eachother?

Chef Meg made these deeeeeeeeelicious spinach linguine frittatas the following morning!  Soooooo good!

Next stop:  the nail salon, of course! So, I asked the sweet nail technician if she would mind taking a picture of the 4 of us.  She didn't...but right before she pushed the button to take the picture she instructed us to "hold hands girls!"  And we did...without any hesitation or discussion.  It wasn't until a few hours later that one of us brought up how odd/awkward of a moment it really was.  Four smiling adults, calmly holding hands, while their feet soak in bath water.  Totally normal.

Priorities totally straight.

Our fearless chauffeur, David (pronounced Daveed).
Check out these awesome chairs we discovered at our first stop, The Donovan House!

Another stop on the Joanne train:  Lincoln. Obsessed with the light fixtures...and their Mac & Cheese.
Gimlet = Dunzo.
Best bread EVER.
This is where you can find the Best Bread EVER!  Birch & Barley....they also have fantastic Mac & Cheese.
Believe it or not, this isn't the end of the night.  Can you say, ROCKSTAR?  Or would it be waiter pressure, Joanne?  What a creeper he was.
The next day, Wes came to join the fun!  Look, there he is!! :)
Off to watch the Bills game at a Bills Backer Bar in Baltimore.  Whoa, alliteration.  For those of you who know her well, you can probably guess that this is where the "weekend dedicated to our good friend Joanne" ends.
...but not before we could capture proof that she sat and watched the game!  This is Joanne "cheering" for a touchdown!

There's nothing like good friends, good times, and some innocent hand holding.  *sigh*

The Furniture Has Arrived!!

Pretty.
It's all coming together!!!
The couch was too big for the  elevator, so the poor delivery  guys had to lug it up the stairs.  They loved us.

ATTENTION: Does anyone need their kitchen furnished??

The following can be found on our living room floor:  an excessive amount of dinner plates, salad plates, sushi plates, cereal bowls, mixing bowls, beer glasses, regular glasses (do those have a name?), small OJ glasses, vases of all shapes, sizes and colors, gravy boats, butter dishes, frosted ice cream/root beer float glasses from the 70's, multiple serving platters, more than one veggie dicer (seriously, why do we have 3?), 21 chip clips, 2 shitty toasters, etc., etc., etc.  Apparently when Wes and I sat down to decide what we have doubles/triples/and more of, we forgot to tackle the kitchen.

If you're in need of anything, please don't hesitate to ask...ANYTHING AT ALL.  Seriously, we have the 'Beyond' part of Bed, Bath, and Beyond, covered.

9.10.11 Move In!

The package has arrived!

Hopefully nothing shifted in transit...

...shifting of items would require additional space.
Not only did this bad boy safely secure our cherished belongings, but was also the guardian of Mrs. J's  high school locker.  They just don't make things like they used to.

This caption brought to you by Master Lock.
Boy, do the Juliano's know something about security.  Take a look at the dish wrapping job by Mr. J.  Hopefully we'll get these unwrapped by Christmas.

Next post:  The unpacking process.  Stay tuned...

Cheers! To being settled...almost.

A little bubbly to celebrate the exciting move!  (thanks to Mr. & Mrs. J)
Ok, so life's a bit craaaaaazy right now and most of our time outside of work has been spent trying to put away all of the "stuff"...and 'a lot' does not even begin to describe the amount of "stuff" we have.  So, to our faithful readers:  we apologize for the lack of posts lately, but promise to be more consistent very soon!  In the meantime, here's a very brief sneak peak at our weekend adventures...

Mr. J throwing away our first bag of garbage.  Definitely picture worthy.  Definitely.  Have you ever seen a man so happy to dispose of waste?

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Rain has been the name of the game pretty much every minute, of every day, starting this past Sunday.  So much so, that heavy flooding hit the area yesterday afternoon, actually causing Fairfax County to close their schools today.  I can't even believe it; I heard that the place shuts down when it flurries, but a RAIN DAY?!   Craziness.

Seriously though.  Here are some photos residents took on their commute home yesterday:
This is actually a road (Rt. 50) that I was supposed to take when driving Wes to the airport from my school in Fairfax, yesterday evening.  Luckily, by the time we were on the highway heading towards the main road, they had closed access.
Another shot of Route 50.
City of Fairfax Police Car
Red Car - Why on earth are you turning towards the flooded street??

It's much worse in PA and New York's Southern Tier.  Take a look at some of these shots from The Weather Channel.
In Johnson City, New York.
Binghamton, New York
PA
Earthquakes, Tornadoes, Hurricanes and Floods.  I think we have everything covered.  We'll take the sun now, please.

Another Year is Underway...

...and here they are in all their glory:

They're cute, but oh boy have they already tested my patience!  Transitioning from end of year 2nd graders to beginning year 1st graders is going to be bumpy, but we're going to make it!

Sunday Funday in Alexandria!

We headed to Old Town Alexandria yesterday.  Here's what we discovered!

How cool is this coffee shop's menu?  The place is  called Misha's  - super fun!
A look at the Potomac from the dock at the end of the main street (King St.) in Alexandria.  There was a clown making balloon animals to our right.  We decided not to take a picture of that moment.
If you venture off the main strip, you may stumble upon authentic cobblestone streets!  LOVE!
"Elementary, my dear Watson." (When reading, please use English accent)
Our delicious drinks at Two Nineteen Restaurant.   We sat on the covered terrace at the front of the restaurant.  Chris was our server, and he was awesome.
Bike outside of a bike rental shop in Old Town.
Trolley ride back up the street!
Interesting bar/restaurant window display we discovered along the way.  Couldn't help but notice the resemblance of something Wes might venture to wear.  Ok, perhaps the red pants are a bit bright, but mult-colored striped button down, Newsie/golf style hat, Sperry sailing shoes and a beer in hand...c'mon?
Hope you enjoyed our adventure as much as we did!  See you soon!

Wes Gets an A+

Wes took his VA Life and Annuities & Health exam yesterday and PASSED!  He can officially sell you Life Insurance and Annuities now...anyone...anyone??

I guess he didn't realize that the picture they took when he arrived would be placed on his license, so he didn't smile.  Angry Wes.

He was excited, rightfully so; he studied very hard for this test...so, this is how he celebrated:

Juuuust kidding.  This is how he appropriately rang in the big check off the to-do list...

A BIG CONGRATS to Wes!!
