Let Something Go

This morning in my yoga class, as the teacher was leading us through our breath, I was struck by her word choice.  Typically, I hear teachers say, "let it go," when cuing an exhale, but this particular teacher replaced it with something.  "Let something go," is what she would say each time she signaled for an exhale.  It was amazing how a simple change in pronoun, completely altered my perspective on this common phrase.  One of the many things that draws me to yoga is that everyone can take from the practice whatever it is they need and that intentions can change from class to class.  I'll never know if anyone else took note of her word choice this morning, or was even phased by it if they did, but that doesn't really matter anyway.  Today, I needed to hear someone tell me to let something go!  With every exhale, I seemed to let a different negative or stressful feeling go.  It was really amazing.

As we head into our last full weekend here in Arlington (more on that later ;)), I am going to try to keep her words in the front of my mind, so that we can take in as many happy memories as possible.  If you need to, go ahead and do the same; after-all that's what weekends are for anyway!
Happy Friday, everyone!

Yoga on the Mall!

This past Sunday was the conclusion of DC Yoga Week, which meant Yoga on the Mall!  It was a giant outdoor yoga class for the entire community - over 1,000 yogis from all over this lovely area, were in attendance.  It was a blast, especially when they started playing MJ during the practice!
Can you spot us??
We had to pair up with a stranger and do some partner work...

Check out my bendy husband.
It was a bit of a chilly start, but after physically warming up, the sun's warmth felt amazing!
Although I look like I'm trying really hard to relax, I swear I really was completely at ease. :)
It was one of those absolutely beautiful days - mentally and physically!
Namaste friends!

Gettin' sweaty with it.

With all the engagement excitement, we haven't had a chance to blog about Rylyn's visit!  The photo below was taken the night that she arrived (January 16th).  We went out to one of our favorite local restaurants:  Pete's New Haven Style Pizza.  They have, THE BEST, Arugula pizza....Rylyn agreed.
CHEESE!

So, you're probably wondering why the post title?  Welllllll, Rylyn successfully persuaded Jaime to attempt Bikram yoga again (after a not so pleasant experience at the studio in Pittsford), and BONUS, Wes decided to give it a whirl, too!  We joined Bikram Yoga Arlington.  Here's a peek inside our experience...

This is the door that we enter.  It's not as scary on the inside.  Well, that's debatable.
Inside.  See?  Much more pleasant.
Where it all goes down.
and now for what we look like after class...
