Mom Limoli is here and so are the Cherry Blossoms!

They're a couple weeks early this year, but we were able to catch them at the perfect time!
It was a wonderful evening.  The trees were in full bloom, the sun was setting and  it was about 75 degrees outside.
We walked around the Tidal Basin, which is a man-made inlet, next to the Potomac.  Beautiful scenery is an understatement, at this type of year.
This was taken on the opposite side of the basin, looking out at the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial.
Our last stop was the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial.  We had never stumbled upon this particular memorial before, and if you haven't either, it is TOTALLY worth it.  In our opinion, it is the most beautiful of all.  Wes decided to thank Eleanor, on our way out, for such a peaceful experience.

Spring is in the air!

The sun was out and so were we, this weekend!  We found some beautiful new spots in Georgetown and took a step back in history at Arlington Cemetery.
Beautiful Georgetown from the Key Bridge, which connects Arlington to DC.  The bridge is actually a short walk, down a bike path, from our apartment.
We spotted our first African American Leprechaun by the river.
Check out this store window.  Literally, floor to ceiling, wall-to-wall antique sewing machines!
Georgetown is full of beautiful streets with some killer hills.
I think I can.  I think I can.
We were actually looking at the creek, which was about 15 feet ahead.  :)
We found a chill outdoor restaurant/bar on the Potomac.  Very basic - 3 menu choices (we split the burger and the crab cake sandwich) and your standard bar choices.  It felt like something you would find in a beach town like Key West or dare we say...the Jersey Shore.
It was there where we spotted another rare leprechaun.  Unbelievable!
Today, we had to go to Bed Bath and Beyond for a few things, but Arlington Cemetery is 2 stops before on the Metro, so we decided to take a quick tour.
We were just in time for the changing of the guards.
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a happy week ahead.  Keep an eye out for strange looking leprechauns!

Virginians are Odd

Seriously? We get it; you're children are athletes.  No one behind you cares.

Volunteering Makes a Difference!

In an effort to become more involved in the Arlington community, and hopefully meet some cool people in the process, we attended a volunteer information session last night for the county.  Numerous local organizations were there to snatch up some volunteers for their cause.

We found some great programs that need our help:

  • Tonight we're going to help coach athletes for the local Special Olympics games.
  • Friday, Wes is lacing up his skates (for the first time since his accident!!), to help individuals with disabilities and their families tackle the ice!  The event actually takes place at the rink where the Washington Capitals practice...which is on the top level of a parking garage, might we add.  Random.
  • Sunday we may garden at one of the local elementary schools.  The crew goes out for cervezas afterwards.  ;)
We're excited to be more involved!

Fun fact:  Did you all know that Wes was a Service Scholar when he was at Fisher? :)

Happy Daylight Savings!

...and what a dayLIGHT Savings it was!  The sun was shining bright today, so we ventured outside to enjoy the rays while running some wedding errands.  Take a look!
And we're off!
The Cherry Blossoms are popping out!
Happy Socks!  How fun are these?  P.S. these were in the Men's Department.  Oh, and this stop on the tour was to find Wes some new threads for our engagement shots!  He found something snazzy, but you'll have to wait until you receive your save the dates for a peak!
We had to hop in the Metro to get to our next destination and check out what we found!  Every Friday in April, Crystal City (a section of Arlington) holds free 5k runs!  We'll be home to celebrate Easter for the first one, but our plan is to tackle the last three!
Our time in the Metro was brought to an abrupt halt when I was attacked by a seriously vicious cough that literally took my breath away and caused my eyes to water uncontrollably down my face.  So we franticly ran out of the Metro and into CVS to get water and tissues.  And look at these freaking tissues!  I was meant to get that cough.
Seriously.  Look at the details in the packaging.
Ok, enough about the tissues.
Absolutely gorgeous day!
You know, just a typical Sunday afternoon.
The best part of our sunny day was stopping by the Container Store to pickup our new, awesome, cheese container.  Yes people, we eat that much cheese.
Ok, perhaps the best part was walking to get some delicious gelato to end our day.  :)

We're Slackers, please forgive us!

Hi lovely blog readers!  It's Jaime.  :)  On behalf of Wes and myself, we want to apologize for our lack of posts this past week.  I have been fighting off something since last Saturday afternoon.  Perhaps it all started after I had a 1st grader, literally, sneeze in my face. :/

Needless to say, this past week has been a rough one for me, and Wes has been preoccupied taking SUCH good care of me!  Seriously people, the man makes a mean pot of tea.
One positive of being sick is the endless amount of tea I have been drinking.  mmmmmm...
We're keeping Kleenex in business.
And take a look at how he serves Mac n Cheese.  Look at that irresistible face.  Unfortunately, the wine was only for him - perhaps that's what kept him so sane this past week? :/

Once a New Yorker, Always a New Yorker

It's a sad day; we started the conversion process.  That ugly McDonald's colored sticker you see above, is the Virginia Inspection verification.  We have no words.
